We write open-source software. Sometimes these are reinvented wheels, just because we couldn't find exactly what we needed elsewhere.
We try not to overengineer our designs. It's easy to get carried away. Instead, we try to get to the core of the matter, and focus on just that.
We document our code (yes, really). Infact, documentation is so important to us, we're writing a system to help out with it.
